Bulldogs face NEC leading Red Flash on Saturday and fifth ranked Colonials on Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team jumps back into Northeast Conference play with doubleheaders at Saint Francis U on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. and Robert Morris on Sunday at noon and 2 p.m. 

The Bulldogs (6-29, 5-3) look to add to their five league wins and contest higher-ranked Saint Francis U, while increasing their lead over Robert Morris in the second to last week of regular season play. The fourth-ranked Black and Gold begin the weekend series against the top-ranked Red Flash (25-18, 5-1), who have dropped their only league game to LIU Brooklyn, 5-1, on the road.

The Red Flash are led by Haley Norton's .357 batting average, 11 doubles, .693 slugging percentage and 44 RBI. Jordan Seneca also tops the team with 44 RBI, while leading the Red Flash with 13 home runs in her 42 starts. Seneca bats .325, while the team averages .296 on the year. Ketarah DeVries has seen the most time on the mound, sitting 9-3 in her 12 starts, while recording the team's second-best 2.67 ERA.

In their second matchup of the weekend, the Bulldogs travel to Moon Township for a double header against the Colonials (13-28, 3-3), who sit two games behind Bryant in fifth. The Colonials dropped both games to LIU Brooklyn, split with Sacred Heart and defeated Wagner in back-to-back games to start league play. Jordan Gurganus leads RMU, batting .381, while the team boasts a .250 batting average on the season. Lauren Hackett tops the Colonials charts with 21 runs and 19 RBI in her 41 starts. Kaitlin Ellzy posts a team-leading 3.45 ERA, earning eight wins on the mound. In her 19 starts, Ellzy has given up 95 runs off 126 hits, while throwing 75 strike outs.
