Softball announces 2022 schedule

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Head Coach Nick French of the Bryant University softball team announced the 46-game 2022 schedule, which is highlighted by a season-opening tournament at College World Series runner-up University of Georgia, and a revamped Northeast Conference schedule format. the 

The Bulldogs will play their first 22 games on the road, playing in tournaments in Norfolk, Va., and North Carolina in addition to the tournament at Georgia. This season, NEC play will consist of three-game series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on the first day and wrap up the series with a single game on the following day.

The Bulldogs will begin the 2022 season with the Georgia Classic Showcase tournament in Athens, Ga. The Black and Gold will play five games in three days (Feb. 25-27). The tournament starts with matchups against Georgia Southern and CWS runner-up Georgia. Then the tournament will conclude with two games against North Carolina, and a final game with Georgia Southern.

Bryant will then begin the month of March in Virginia for the HU/Norfolk Tournament hosted by Hampton and Norfolk St (Mar. 4-6). The Bulldogs will play Drexel, Hampton, Rider, and Norfolk St twice. The Black and Gold will then head to North Carolina to compete in the East Carolina Tournament (Mar. 11-13). Bryant will play two games against host ECU, and one each versus Rider and Morehead St.

The Bulldogs will then play the Bison of Howard in Washington D.C for the final game before conference play starts (Mar.14)

Bryant finishes the month of March with three straight road series against Sacred Heart (Mar. 19-20), Long Island (Mar. 26-27), and in-state rival Brown for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 30th.

The Black and Gold will play their first series in front of the Conaty Park crowd on April 2nd versus Saint Francis U. The Bulldogs then take a short trip to Kingston, R.I. to face URI on Wednesday, April 6th. Bryant will then head to the tri-state area to face Fairleigh Dickinson (Apr. 9-10), and the Bobcats of Quinnipiac (Apr. 13).

The Bulldogs will return to Smithfield for a series against Wagner (Apr. 15-16), before playing the final six road games of the year against Providence (Apr. 20), Mount St. Mary's (Apr. 23-24), and Siena for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 26th.

Bryant finishes the 2022 regular season with home series against Central Connecticut (Apr. 30-May. 1) and Merrimack (May 3-4).

The NEC Championships will take place from May 12th - May 14th, where the higher seeds will host.
