Bryant falls to NSU 4-2 on Sunday

NORFOLK, VA. - The Bryant Univeristy softball team lost a close game to Norfolk State 4-2 in the final game of the Norfolk Softball Tournament.

Coach French's Comments

"Tough day, we fought hard right to the end. We just couldn't break through with the big inning today." 

Key Moment 

• The Black and Gold had the tying run at the plate with two outs in the seventh inning but failed to score.

How it Happened 

• The Spartans hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth and then scored a second run on a Bulldog error (2-0).
• NSU had a runner on second, and when the ball was in play, a Bryant error brought both runs in (4-0).
• Amira Rainer hit a leadoff single in the top of the sixth, and then Jenna Gardner launched a double to left-center, placing runners at third and second. Hailey Aspinwall and Toni Camarillo hit groundballs that scored a run, shrinking the deficit to two (4-2).

Stats 

• Alexis Clancy, Allison Tomaino, and Gardner recorded hits.
• McKeveny posted one strikeout in four innings pitched.
• Jocelyn Bodington had back-to-back strikeouts in the bottom of the sixth as a relief pitcher.
• Gardner threw out her third runner of the season.
