BRYANT WOMEN THIRD; MEN FOURTH AT NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hafiz Greigre earned conference Male Athlete of the Year winning the 100m and 200m title Saturday at the conference championship in Lowell.

LOWELL, MA --  Bryant University men's track & field standout Hafiz Greigre was named the 2007 Male Athlete of the Year after placing first in both the men's 100 and 200 meters and second in the long jump at the Northeast-10 Conference Track & Field Championships Saturday in Lowell, Mass.  The Bryant women placed third at the meet with the men taking home fourth.

Greigre successfully defended his titles in the sprints by winning the 100m in a time of 10.72 seconds and later captured first in the 200m in 21.39. The native of Attleboro, MA would later take home second place in the men's long jump with a mark of 23 feet, 0.75 inches.

Mike Hull captured second place in the men's javelin with a best throw of 162 feet, four inches while the men's 4x100 meter relay was edged by the slimmest of margins at the tape by Southern Connecticut. The Owls won in a time of 42.07 seconds, a photo-finish ahead of Bryant's time of 42.08.

On the women's side, Bryant had three conference champions.  Natasha Stevenson, who placed third in the finals of the women's 100 meter dash in 12.65 seconds, would come up big with a first place finish in the 200 meters in 25.70.

Stephanie Montagano took second in the women's 400m in 59.15 while Nicole Radzik was second in the 3000m (10.26.76).  Radzik had a fine day as the Sutton, MA native captured the title in the 5,000 meters, placing first in 18.33.19.  Teammate Jennifer Goodwin of Yarmouthport, MA took top honors in the 10,000 meters, finishing in 42.54.02, edging Emily Thomas of UMass Lowell by more than a minute.

Jessica Cegarra took second in the women's javelin at 119-07 while Rachel Martinich was third with a throw of 115 feet, 7 inches.
