BRYANT INDOOR TRACK TEAMS OPEN SEASON AT BROWN
PROVIDENCE, RI - (12-6-08) -- The Bryant University men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened their indoor seasons Saturday at the Brown University Alden Invitational. The Bulldogs had several fine performances on the afternoon, including a few first-place finishes.
Highlighting the day was the performance of junior Alex Engel (Spencer, MA). Engel took first in the men's 500 meters in 1 minute, 5.84 seconds, edging out Brown's Sean O'Brien who was second in 1:06.43. Teammate Mike DiBella (Upper Saddle River, NJ) was third in 1:07.06 and Ryan Busby took fifth in 1:12.41.
While just a split-second of Hafiz Greigre's school record of 1:05.70, Engel's time is good enough for qualification to the New England Championships later this winter.
