INDOOR TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY
MEN'S RESULTS / WOMEN'S RESULTS
Boston - The Bryant University women's and men's track & field teams competed at Boston University Terrier Invitational on Friday and Saturday respectively.
On the women's side many season best performances were turned in. Justine Douvadjian took 98th with a 27.87 in the 200m. Katie Pelletier (53rd, 1:03.54), Kim Warner (63rd, 1:04.83), Liana Grieg (72nd, 1:09.04), and Meagan Evans (75th, 1:10.55) all ran season bests in a competitive 400m. In the 800m Jennifer Denise (2:35.21) and Katelyn Arouca (2:45.98) both ran season bests taking 75th and 83rd respectively. Casey Fenwick also ran a season best in the 1 mile taking 61st with a time of 5:38.38.
Also competing on the women's side and turning in strong performances were Marissa Donovan in the 800m taking 81st with 2:45.59, Kat Ragone in the in the 1 mile taking 58th with a time of 5:35.93, and Stephanie Kirk in the 55m Hurdles for 41st in 9.41 seconds. In the field events Joanna Chanaj and Melanie Farbotko represented Bryant in the High Jump while Amy Hutchinson competed in the triple jump taking 26th with a leap of 9.63m.
For the men's squad many strong performances were turned in with several NEICAAA qualifiers as well as an IC4A qualifier. Leading the men's side were Alexander Engel and Thomas O'Connor. Engel competed in the 400m (9th, 49.16) and the 200m (17th, 22.31). Both events were NEICAAA qualifiers as well as the 400m being an IC4A qualifier. O'Connor competed in the 400m (11th, 49.26) and 200m (13th, 22.27) as well. Both events were NEICAAA qualifiers and were just 100ths of a second off of IC4A qualifying.
Also turning in personal records were Anthony Monteiro in the 200m (81st, 23.87), Ryan Busby in the 800m (50th, 2:00.67) and Benjamin Coughlin (58th, 2:02.11). Michael DiBella ran a personal record in the 500m (24th, 1:06.27) as well as qualified for the NEICAAA meet. Drew Clark and John Mitton both competed in the 1 mile running season bests and personal records of 4:23.04 and 4:26.20 respectively. Tom Casey also turned in a personal record in the 3000m in 8:52.74.
Season bests were ran by Andrew Fitzgerald (70th, 23.54) and Zach Perron (88th, 24.44) in the 200m. Austin Huminsky ran 2:05.09 in the 800m for 70th and his season best. In the 3000m Tom Casey and Mark Kenwood ran season bests of 8:52.74 and 9:16.05. Other strong performances were turned by Justin Hoffner in the 55m (58th, 7.15), Justin Getts in the 800m (44th, 2:00.08), Peter Jacques in the 1 Mile (79th, 4:31.25), Dan Gehen in the 3000m (97th, 9:42.03), and Anthony Monteiro (23rd, 8.33) and Zach Perron (33rd, 8.91) in the 55m hurdles.
The 4x400m relay team of DiBella, Monteiro, O'Connor, and Engel ran a season best 3:21.51 for 12th and NEICAAA qualifying.
In the field events Fitzgerald (17th, 20ft 9.75in) and Chris Brida (24th, 19ft 10.25in) represented Bryant in the Long Jump. Brida also competed in the Triple Jump taking 16th with a jump of 40ft 6.25in. In the throws both Greg Brown and Steve Haskell competed in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. Brown took 36th in the Shot Put with a throw of 39ft 11.25in and 50th in the Weight Throw with a toss of 33ft 3in. Haskell was 42nd in the Shot Put tossing 37ft 3.25in and 31st in the Weight throw distancing 42ft 11.5in.
Both teams are at the URI Invitational Mega Meet next week. The Men will be Friday night and the women will be competing Saturday.
