SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University men's and women's track & field teams are gearing up for a busy weekend as the Bulldogs host the annual Bryant Track & Field Invitational this Saturday at the Bryant Track Complex.

Saturday's meet, the team's first home Division I meet, will feature all the Division I track & field teams in the state with Providence, Brown and the University of Rhode Island scheduled to compete.

The meet will start at 10 am with the men's hammer, women's javelin, women's long jump and men's high jump.

The running events will begin at 11 am with the men's and women's 5000 meter race. The throwing events will take place at the throwing area located next to the baseball field.

Bryant is coming off a tremendous indoor track & field season where the men placed sixth and the women were 11th in the memorable meet that featured several outstanding performances.

The team kicked off its outdoor schedule last week at the Husky Invitational hosted by Northeastern in Dedham, MA.  Senior Tom Casey (Cornwall, NY) got the outdoor season started on the right foot by setting a new school record with a sixth-place finish in the 10,000 meters.  Casey finished in a time of 32 minutes, 39.47 seconds, just ahead of Eric Narcisi's mark of 32:42.8 set back in 2001.
