Six Bulldogs earn NEC All-Conference laurels

SOMERSET, N.J. -- The Northeast Conference announced award winners from the Indoor Track & Field Championships held last month. Six different Bryant athletes were honored after the meet, including five First Team All-Conference selections.

First-team selections include senior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.), freshman Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.), and sophomores Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.), Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.), and Olivia Weiss (Newtown, N.J.).

Fasano broke out at the NEC Indoor Championships. After winning gold in the shot put with a distance of 15.70 meters, Fasano was named the NEC Most Outstanding Field Performer in throws, as well as the NEC Most Outstanding Rookie, the first Bryant athlete to earn those titles. His distance in the shot put earned him First Team All-NEC and All-Rookie honors. He was also named an All-Rookie selection in the weight throw, achieving a distance of 14.44 meters.

Lodge is a double All-NEC honoree, having won the gold medal in the mile with a time of 4:55.66. The team of Lodge, Sullivan, Cluck, and Weiss to take home a meet record in the women's distance medley in 11:59.22, beating the previous NEC Championships record by over 12 seconds.

Cluck also took home Second Team All-NEC honors after earning a silver medal in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.66.

Freshman Jordan Dagrin (Providence, R.I.) earns All-Rookie status in the mile after finishing the event in 4:36.14 as the top rookie finisher at the NEC Championships.

The All-Conference announcement officially shuts the door on the indoor season. Bryant opens up the outdoor track & field campaign on Saturday, March 31 with the Black and Gold Invitational.
