Bulldogs kick off indoor season with Alden Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field team kicks off the 2019-20 season at Brown with the Alden Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 7. The meet begins with all field events at t 11 a.m. as the running events are set to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center in Providence.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Since the Bulldogs moved into Division I, Bryant has competed in the Alden Invitational during every season but one as Saturday marks the 11th time in history that the Black and Gold competes at Brown to kick off the indoor season.
  • Last season, ten different Bulldogs entered Bryant's record book at Brown.
  • Most notably, Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 35.99 in the 300m, solidifying his spot as second all-time at Bryant.
  • Sophomore Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) became a New England qualifier in his indoor debut in the Black and Gold a year ago. Dolan finished first in the mile run with a 4:19.47 mark.
  • On the women's side, Nicole Xiarhos (Berlin, Conn.) entered Bryant's record book in two events. The sophomore finished the 60m with a time of 8.29 and is eighth all-time as well as a 44.20 finish in the 300m for a fifth-place spot in Bryant's record book.
  • Sophomore Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.) also posted her best indoor mile time of 5:36.78 at the Alden Invitational last season finishing sixth overall.
