Bulldogs host Maine on Tuesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's basketball team plays its second back-to-back home game as they host the Black Bears of Maine at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Last season, the Black Bears went 23-10 taking home the America East Championship. In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Maine fell to the University of Texas, 83-54. Maine kicked-off its season topping the University of Toledo, 73-59.
Blanca Millan is the current leading scorer for the Black Bears scoring 18 points in their season opener and leads the team with two steals.

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday's matchup will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two teams as Maine leads the series 5-3 after the Bulldogs fell to the Black Bears by two points in overtime one year ago.

MEET THE NEWCOMERS
The Bryant University women's basketball team welcomes four new faces who will all contribute at the guard position. Madison Trpcic (Hamilton, Ont.) and Trinity Bravo (Bridgeport, Conn.) enter as true freshman, while Meagan Bianchi (Brooklyn, Conn.) and Taty LaFrance Boyce (Norwich, Conn.) have two years of playing experience under their belt as they transfer into Bryant from junior college, UConn Avery Point.

SEEING DOUBLE
Junior wing Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W. Va.) recorded back-to-back double doubles in her first two games of the 2018-19 season. Against Brown, Holloway scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. No Bulldogs has had a 20/20 game since Holloway did it against Fairleigh Dickinson last season.

Last season, she was named First Team All-NEC after averaging 17.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 assists per game. Holloway was the only conference player to average a double-double which ranked her 19th nationally for her double-double performances.

DROPPING DIMES
Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) led the Bulldogs in their season opener at UMass Lowell with nine assists.

Palmer led the NEC in assists last season for the second year in a row, totaling 132 on the season (5.3/game).

NO, NO, NO
Sophomores Julia Kelner (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J.) lead the Bulldogs in blocked shots each with two. Bravo also tallied a block in her collegiate debut at UMass Lowell.

Scanlan led the Bulldogs last season with 27 blocks in her rookie debut. In her first game at the collegiate leve, Scanlan recorded a career-high of three.

BOARDING SCHOOL
After the first two games of the 2018-19 season, Bryant has out-rebounded both of its opponents compiling a rebound margin per game of 14.5.

Bryant led the Northeast Conference in rebound margin and was second in rebounds last season, out-rebounding its opponents by 2.7 rebounds a game. The Bulldogs held opponents to 1,127 rebounds over the course of the season and outrebounded opponents in 20 of the 29 games.

FREE-BEES
Last season the Bulldogs led the NEC in free throw attempts taking 627 for the year. Holloway attempted 40% of the teams free throws ranking top 10 in the country for free throw attempts taking 248. In the Bulldog's season opener, Holloway sank a free throw in the final second of the game to put Bryant up one and give them the win.
