Bryant travels to FDU for Monday night showdown

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's basketball team hits the road for a four-game road stretch making a stop at Fairleigh Dickinson first. The Bulldogs will meet with the Knights on Monday, January 28 at 7 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
Bryant travels to Hackensack, N.J. to meet with the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday, January 28 at 7 p.m. 

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Fairleigh Dickinson posts a 5-13 overall record with a 2-5 record in Northeast Conference play topping Central Connecticut and LIU Brooklyn. Most recently, the Knights fell to St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, 64-53.

Lauren Francillion leads the Knights in scoring with 191 points on the year averaging 11.2 points a night. Francillion also leads in rebounds grabbing 6.8 a game.

Peter Cinella leads FDU in his 12th season as head coach.

SERIES HISTORY
Last season, the two teams split 1-1 as the Bulldogs fell to FDU in overtime, 77-69. Bryant leads the overall series record, 13-5, only losing in New Jersey on three occassions.

LAST TIME OUT: BRYANT 72, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT 60
Bryant cruised past Central Connecticut, 72-60, on Saturday out-scoring the Blue Devils, 25-12, in the first quarter.

Both junior Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W. Va.) and sophomore Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J) tallied double-doubles in the victory. Holloway led in points with 20 and grabbing 11 rebounds while Scanlan led on the board grabbing 12 rebounds and chipping in 17 points.

Junior Masey Zegarowski (Hamilton, Mass.) also scored in double-digits with 10 points shooting 3-of-7 from the field.

SEEING DOUBLE
Junior forward Sydney Holloway tallies 13 double-doubles so far this season, 32 for her career, leading the NEC. Holloway ranks ninth in the country for her double-double efforts averaging a double-double a night with 17.0 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game.

DISHING IT OUT
Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) led the Bulldogs with a season-high 10 assists in conference opener vs. LIU Brooklyn. She currently leads the Bulldogs with 73 assists so far on the season and is ranked second in the NEC for assists per game with 4.1.  The senior tallied seven assists most recently against Central Connecticut. Palmer is 14 assists away from 500 and only six players in NEC's history has ever reached the milestone.

ZEGA-WHO?
Junior guard Masey Zegarowski has been a major contributor for the Bulldogs durint thier conference schedule. In Bryant's conference opener against LIU Brooklyn, Zegarowski posted a season-high 16 points. She has followed up her performance scoring in double-figures in all but two conference games so far this season.

HANNAH SPELLED BACKWARDS SPELLS HANNAH
Sophomore Hannah Scanlan has led Bryant in scoring for three games straight in January and tallied her first double-double of the season with a season-high 17 points, 12 rebounds against CCSU.

DEFENSE IS KEY
In all six of Bryant's wins, the Bulldogs have kept their opponents under 70 points. Bryant has also kept four of the six NEC teams that they have faced under its scoring average.

BOARDING SCHOOL
Bryant is now first in the NEC with 42.2 rebounds per game. The Bulldogs have only been outrebounded three times this year at Boston College, 47-37, Holy Cross, 51-34, and Sacred Heart, 45-41. The Bulldogs were even wtih West Virginia, Brown, and Providence. Holloway leads the Bulldogs and the conference with 220 rebounds ranking her ninth in the country. The junior forward also leads the conference with most offensive rebounds a game with five as she ranks sixth in the country in that category.
