BRYANT UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS NAMES KAREN HEALY HEAD WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACH
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the naming of Karen Healy as Head Women's Lacrosse Coach. The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Bill Smith. Healy returns to Bryant after serving as the head women's lacrosse coach at Wagner College in 2008. She replaces Jessica Davos who left last month after one year at Bryant in order to pursue other opportunities.
"We are excited to welcome Karen back to the Bryant family," said Smith. "She's an outstanding coach and tremendous person. Her familiarity with the program and head coaching experience is what we were looking for as we prepare for the upcoming season. She'll provide stability for the program for years to come."
Healy returns to Bryant where she coached the women's lacrosse team for three seasons, from 2005-07. During her coaching career at Bryant, she led the Bulldogs to a 32-16 overall record including a 23-7 record in the Northeast-10 Conference.
A native of Freeport, New York where she was a high school All-American, Healy later enjoyed an outstanding career at Syracuse University. She helped lead the Orange to three NCAA championship appearances while earning two All-American honors.
Following graduation, Healy began her coaching career as an assistant at UMass-Amherst where she stayed for two seasons (2003, 2004) before joining MetroLacrosse, Inc. as Assistant Program Director, helping provide free lacrosse to underprivileged youth in Boston and its surrounding communities.
