Bryant heads to CCSU on Wednesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team hits the road on Wednesday, March 24 for a road Northeast Conference matchup at Central Connecticut at 3 p.m.

THE SERIES

  • Bryant leads the series 11-2 and is 4-1 on Central's home turf.
  • The Bulldogs have won the last seven-straight outings against the Blue Devils. The last time Bryant lost to Central Connecticut in 2013 in Smithfield, 9-8.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS

  • The Blue  Devils have yet to win a game this season as they post an 0-6 overall record and are 0-4 against conference foes. Their most recent loss was at Saint Francis U, 17-6.
  • Senior Cooper Cowdin anchors Central's defensive unit as the primary goalkeeper. She ranks second in the NEC with 51 saves on the season. She posts a save percentage of 0.354.
  • Graduate student Morgan Sinton leads the Blue Devils with 10 goals so far this season. She's among the top-10 in the conference in free position goals per game (0.83) and free position percentage (.500).

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • After a series of postponements, the Bulldogs have played just one game so far this season as they fell to Wagner, 12-6, to open the season.
  • Junior Emily Diaz led Bryant's offense with a hat trick. She converted three of her four shots into goals as she ranks second in the country with a .750 shot percentage.
  • Freshman Lily Auger posted a stellar rookie debut with one goal, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers.
  • Graduate student Gabriella Henry led the Bulldogs with a career-high of five groundballs at Wagner. She ranks second in the country and first in the NEC for groundballs per game.
  • Sophomore Sam Ciancio started in between the pipes for the Black and Gold and she stopped a career-best of 12. Her save percentage of .500 ranks her 18th nationally.
  • As a team, the Bulldogs lead the NEC and are sixth nationally averaging 20 groundballs a game.
  • The Bulldogs are also tenth nationally with a clear percentage of 0.909.
