SCOUTING THE SHARKS

  • LIU has had a hot start to the season as they post a 6-1 record against NEC opponents. The Sharks fell to Wagner for their lone loss so far on the season, 14-3.
  • LIU's biggest scoring threat lies in graduate student Paige Sherlock who has 16 goals across seven games. She ranks ninth in the NEC with 2.29 goals per game. Sherlock also leads the team with 14 groundballs and ranks sixth in the conference averaging two per game.
  • The Sharks pride themselves in dominating the draw circle. As a team, they rank first in the country in draw control percentage with .708. Senior Rachel Masullo is 11th nationally with 7.29 draw controls per game.
  • LIU posts some of the top defensive marks both in the country and nationally. As a team, they rank third in the country in save percentage (.546) and fifth nationally in scoring defense (7.71). Their primary goalkeeper, Hailey Duchnowski, is among the top five in the country with a .540 save percentage. She ranks fourth in the NEC with 61 saves on the year averaging 8.71 a game.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Bryant enters Saturday's game after topping Merrimack, 18-10, as they grow to 2-2 in the conference slate. The Bulldogs are currently fourth in the conference with that mark.
  • Junior Emily Diaz snapped Bryant's Division I single-game assist record with eight against the Warriors. The record was previously held by Allison Faiola '10 who set the record with seven at Saint Francis U in 2009. Diaz leads the conference and is ranked eighth nationally as she averages 2.75 assists per game.
  • While at Merrimack, Caitlin Bolen set a career-high of seven goals. Her previous career-high was set at four which she matched for the second time last season at Longwood. Bolen is now the top goal scorer in the conference as she paces the pack with 3.00 per game.
  • Senior Emma Lindquist has been enjoying a breakout season on offense. At Merrimack, she notched a career-best three goals which put her season total at four after she netted one against Mount St. Mary's.
  • The Bulldogs post top marks in the conference including free-position percentage (.562) where they also rank eighth in the country. A number of Bulldogs post perfect free position marks but the team is led by Cassidy Burns and Diaz who are both 2-for-2 in free position opportunities.
