Bulldogs take trip to Sacred Heart on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team closes out its road schedule on Saturday, April 17 when they meet with Sacred Heart in Fairfield at 1 p.m.

THE SERIES

• After dropping to the Pioneers, 12-11, earlier this season, Bryant is now 10-4 all-time against Sacred Heart.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

• Sacred Heart currently sits in fifth in the conference standings with a 4-5 mark after upsetting Wagner, 13-12, on Saturday.  
• Junior Grace Reinold unleashed a career-high five goals in Bryant's last outing with Sacred Heart and tallied multi-goal games in the last five outings for the Pioneers. But its junior Lydia Werlau who leads Sacred Heart in scoring with 24 goals on the year. Werlau netted two goals off four shots on goal against the Bulldogs and is fifth in the NEC averaging 2.67 goals per game.
• Sacred Heart posts four different goalkeepers who have all seen time in between the pipes this season, but sophomore Bella Beaton is the Pio's primary goalie and played the full 60 minutes in Smithfield. Beaton is one of the NEC's top goalies as she ranks second in the conference with 101 saves and 10.10 saves per game. The sophomore made 13 saves off 24 shots against the Bulldogs.
• Sacred Heart ranks second in the NEC averaging 18.5 groundballs per game as they posted 21 compared to Bryant's 13 in the last outing. Junior defender Claire McElhenny leads the team with 23 on the year and posted five at Bryant.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

• The Bulldogs rank just behind Sacred Heart in the conference standings in sixth with a 3-5 NEC mark.
• Senior Caitlin Bolen poured in five goals at Mount St. Mary's and leads the Bulldogs with 20 goals on the year. She ranks third in the NEC with 2.86 goals per game.
• Junior Cassidy Burns is 19^th in the country with 2.25 assists per game after dishing out five at Mount St. Mary's. Burns leads the team with 18 so far this season.
• Bryant is second in the NEC in shots on goals per game with 24.88. Bolen leads that front, firing 4.43 per game while Alexa Weber ranks tenth in the NEC with 3.62 per game.
• Sophomore Skylar Simmonds has been an all-around force for the Bulldogs and posted a stat line of two goals, eight shots with six on goal, five groundballs, and four draw controls at Mount. In the past two outings, Simmonds has contributed a combined seven points.
