Bryant tops CCSU, 22-3, on Senior Day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bolen twins combined for 11 goals, and junior Cassidy Burns tied Bryant's Division I single-game assists record as the Bryant University women's lacrosse team topped Central Connecticut, 22-3, during Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the first 50 seconds of the game, freshman Kenna Kaut darted towards the goal to get the Bulldogs on the board. Kaut's goal was the first of nine unanswered goals for the Bulldogs as they grew a large 9-0 cushion.
• Central Connecticut netted their first of the game at the 11:37 mark, but exactly one minute later, senior Abbi England buried a free position opportunity which sparked a 5-0 run to end the half. The Bulldogs held a 14-1 advantage as they headed into halftime.
• Senior Caitlin Bolen opened the second half with back-to-back goals which were both assisted by Kaut. The Blue Devils answered with two-straight to make the score 16-3 in Bryant's favor.
• Bryant went on to net six more goals to end the game, 22-3.

STATS/GAME NOTES

• Burns tied Bryant's Division I single-game assist record with a career-high of eight. The record was set earlier this season by her teammate Emily Diaz at Merrimack.
• Devon Bolen led the Bulldogs with a career-best six goals off six shots. Bolen also matched her career high in draw controls as she led with a game-high of seven.
• Caitlin Bolen trailed her sister with five goals off eight shots.
• Freshmen Peyton Woodward and Kaut each netted two goals apiece. Kaut also tallied two assists and two ground balls.
• Megan McCarthy, Lily Auger, Skylar Simmonds, Chamberlaine Bell, Brooke Blanche, Emma Lindquist, and England all posted one goal each. Blanche's goal marked the first of her career.
• Madison Henry and Devon Bolen led the Bulldogs with three caused turnovers.
• Senior Giana Kapoosuzian made 11 saves off 14 shots.
• The Bulldogs dominated the draw circle, winning 19 draws compared to Central's six. Bryant also outshot CCSU by a wide margin, 43-17.
• As a team, Bryant put this game in its D1 record book as the Bulldogs tied their single-game record in goals and are second with 15 team assists. The Bulldogs also tie for third as they posted 43 shots.
• Bryant is now 6-5 in conference play with one game still to play when they host LIU this Wednesday. Sacred Heart trails Bryant in fifth with a 6-6 NEC record as the Pioneers concluded their regular season today at Merrimack.
