Kapoosuzian, Kaut earn NEC weekly awards

SOMERSET, N.J. – Freshman Kenna Kaut and senior Giana Kapoosuzian earned Northeast Conference weekly honors as announced today by the conference office.

Kapoosuzian earned her first NEC Defender of the Week honor after tying Bryant's single-game Division I saves record with a career-best 21 against LIU. She sits next to Lauren Fillippone '12 who set the record in 2011 at Holy Cross. Kapoosuzian faced 32 shots and only allowed 11 as she was the anchor in Bryant's defensive unit. The senior also made 11 saves in Bryant's 22-3 victory over Central Connecticut last week. She currently leads the conference and is seventh in the country with a 0.526 save percentage.

Kaut scored the game-winning goal against LIU to propel the Bulldogs into the NEC postseason and earned the title of NEC Rookie of the Week. Kaut's goal came with just 38 seconds left and was her second goal of the game. The rookie also netted two goals and tallied two assists against CCSU earlier in the week. Kaut posted two goals in each of the last three games for the Black and Gold.

Bryant treks to Emmitsburg on Wednesday for the NEC semifinals against Mount St. Mary's at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
