Bulldogs Win Sixth in a Row in Rout of Saint Francis

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to six games with a 20-6 win over Saint Francis U on Friday night at Beirne Stadium. Kenna Kaut and Alexa Weber each scored five times for the Bulldogs, who improved to 5-0 in NEC play.

How it Happened

Q1: The Bulldogs scored three times in the opening two minutes of play, with Kaut, Weber, and Margaret Adams all finding the net. SFU responded with their first score before Weber and Kaut each netted their second goals to put Bryant up four. The Bulldogs continued their offensive onslaught, tacking on five more goals by the end of the opening quarter.

Q2: Skylar Simmonds netted her first goal of the game less than a minute into the second quarter, followed by Kaut's fifth goal just ninety seconds later. The Bryant defense was rock solid, holding SFU scoreless for over ten minutes to start the period. Simmonds scored twice in the quarter to lead the Bulldogs.

Q3: Jessica Colalillo kicked off the second half scoring with her first career goal off an assist from Cassidy Burns, one of her game-high four. The Bulldogs would score twice more in the quarter, while the defense held the Red Flash to zero shots and seven turnovers.

Q4: Bryant tacked on three more goals in the fourth, including two from Weber and one from Brooke Blanche. SFU was held to just four shots in the final frame, two of which were saved by Sam Centofante.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • With her season-high five goals, Alexa Weber became the third different Bulldog to score five in a game this season, joining Kenna Kaut and Skylar Simmonds. Kaut eclipsed the five goal mark for the third time, and now has 40 on the season, the most in the NEC.

  • Weber also won a career-high seven draw controls, helping the Bulldogs win the draw battle, 14-13. She also recorded three ground balls and an assist.

  • Sam Centofante saved 10 of 16 shots that came her way, good for a 62.5% save percentage, her second best of the season.

  • Cassidy Burns reached four assists for the sixth game this season and second in a row. She now has a team and NEC leading 30 on the season

  • Bryant eclipsed the 20 goal mark for the second consecutive game and game overall this season. They did so on 43 shots, their second most this season.

  • The Bulldogs defense held SFU to 6-14 on clear attempts while forcing 19 Red Flash turnovers. They also picked up 21 ground balls, led by Emma Coleman's five.

  • Bryant converted on all 11 of their clear attempts in the game, the fourth time this season they converted all attempts in a game. They're sixth in the nation in clear percentage, coming into the game at 92.4%.

  • The Bulldogs have won their first five NEC games by an average of 10.8 goals per game. They came into tonight's game tenth in the country with a +6.00 scoring margin overall.
