UPSET-MINDED BULLDOGS TRAVEL TO BOSTON UNIVERSITY FOR FIRST-EVER MATCHUP WITH TERRIERS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - After winning its first Northeast Conference game of the 2009 campaign on Friday, Oct. 16 against Sacred Heart, the women's soccer team looks to upset Boston University Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. on Nickerson Field.

With the win against Sacred Heart on Friday and the tie at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday afternoon, the Bulldogs currently stand at 3-9-1 overall and sit in ninth place in the NEC with a 1-4-1 mark.

On the weekend, the squad was led by freshman Jennifer Harding (Lancaster, Mass.), who scored two goals in the 3-1 win over Sacred Heart and registered the lone assist at Fairleigh Dickinson. The Bulldogs also received goals from senior captain Alex DiPippo (Shelton, Conn.), sophomore Kaitlyn Hinck (Bow, N.H.), who registered her team-high fourth goal of the season at FDU and two assists from junior Sarah Donovan (Storrs, Conn.).

The Terriers, a participant in last year's NCAA tournament, have already clinched a spot in the America East Women's Soccer Championship and sit at 10-5-2 overall and atop the conference with a 6-1-0 mark. The only thing left to be determined for BU is whether or not they receive the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in their conference tournament.

BU has an impressive offensive output this season as 11 different players have combined to score their 25 goals. Defensively, the Terriers are currently ranked 44th in the nation in goals-against average (0.74) and 32nd in shutout percentage (0.53).

Wednesday's matchup is scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast live on video and audio available through the Boston University student radio. Fans can also follow the live stats of this afternoon's contest. Each of these can be accessed by following the links at the top of the page.
