Conrad and Manna take home first weekly awards in the NEC of the year

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's soccer senior goalie Kaylan Conrad (Avon, Conn.) and freshman forward Remi Manna (Pleasantville, N.Y.) have been named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.

In Bryant's season-opener at Stony Brook on Friday, August 19, Manna was the double-overtime hero, scoring the winning goal in the 109th minute to give Bryant a 1-0 victory. In her first collegiate game, Manna settled a cross from sophomore Alex Spangler (Acton, Mass.) and sent the ball past the goalkeeper into the upper right corner of the net. She took two shots on Sunday as Bryant defeated Iona College, 2-0, in the home opener. The Pleastantville, N.Y., native was taken down in the box in the 16th minute and Bryant was awarded a penalty kick, which was successfully converted by junior Haley Reddish (Natick, Mass.) to give Bryant a 1-0 lead.

In the season-opening double-overtime win at Stony Brook on Friday, Conrad made eight saves over 109 minutes of play, and saw a total of 24 Seawolves shots. She followed with three saves on Sunday against Iona to help facilitate the program's first 2-0 start in its Division I history. The two shutouts over the weekend were Conrad's 12th and 13th of her career.

The Bulldogs will aim to build on their impressive start when they begin a three-game road trip at Yale on Friday, August 26 at 3:00 p.m.
