Bryant controls own destiny in season finale at Mount

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With just one game left until the postseason, the Bryant University women's soccer team controls its own destiny heading into its regular season finale with Mount St. Mary's.

A win or tie clinches Bryant its third postseason bid in the last four seasons, with the tournament slated for next weekend at Central Connecticut.

The Series

The teams have split the nine meetings since the series started in 2009, with each team winning four matches and one draw thrown into the mix. Bryant is unbeaten in the last three matchups, however, including a 2-1 win at home last season and a 2-0 victory in Emmitsburg in 2016.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

• The Bulldogs look to finish the season on a three-game winning streak after winning both matches last weekend, bettering their record to 8-6-1 and 4-2-1 in conference play.
• Sophomore Amanda Spitaleri (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded the program's first hat trick since 2006 in the team's 3-0 win over LIU Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.
• By virtue of those three goals, she leads the team with five goals and 10 points on the season. Three of her five goals are game winners.
• Senior Cayla D'Amico (Grafton, Mass.) is second on the team leaderboard with nine points, accumulated through three goals and three assists during the 2018 campaign.
• Bryant enters the final weekend with a top three goals-against average (1.11) and goals per game offense (1.27) in the NEC.
• Sophomore Jamie Irwin (Succasunna, N.J.) earned conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday after leading the Bryant defense to back to back clean sheets in which the Bulldogs only allowed a combined six shots on goal.
• Sophomore Meghan Dalton (West Hartford, Conn.) has played all 1373 minutes between the posts for Bryant, recording a 1.11 goals-against average and .800 save percentage in the process. She has stepped it up in NEC play this season, improving both marks to 0.69 and .872, respectively.

A bit about the Mountaineers

• Mount St. Mary's enters their season finale at 4-8-3 on the year and 3-2-2 in NEC play. They came from behind to beat Wagner and keep their postseason aspirations alive on Sunday, winning 2-1 on Staten Island.
• While going 1-7-1 on the road this season, the Mount has been able to hold their ground at home, going 3-1-2 at the Waldron Family Stadium.
• Kayla Hughes and Maddie Tchou each have recorded nine points on the season. Both have scored four goals and added an assist in the process. Hughes assisted on Maria Buonomo's game-winner on Sunday afternoon.
• Maggie Barron has started the last seven matches for the Mountaineers and 11 overall on the season. She has a 1.15 goals-against average and .783 save percentage to her name in 1016 minutes in net.
