Bulldogs to play first of two night games at Beirne Stadium

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – For the first time in program history the Bryant University women's soccer team will play a night game at home when it hosts Holy Cross Thursday at 7 p.m. at Beirne Stadium.

Thursday's contest will be the first of two under the lights at Beirne Stadium, which received upgrades to the facility in 2018 that make the night game possible. Bryant will host Merrimack at Beirne Stadium in Monday night's NEC opener.

Series History

  • This is the 11th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Crusaders, with Bryant taking last year's game 2-0 when Corinne Rey (Norton, Mass.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career. The Crusaders own the all-time series 5-4 with one draw in a series that dates back to 1984.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant is playing the first of four home games in September.
  • The Bulldogs are coming off two back-to-back 1-0 losses to Maine on Sunday and Quinnipiac the Sunday prior.
  • Showing balance in their attack, 13 different Bryant players have taken shot attempts thus far this season.
  • Redshirt senior Alison Guilmette (Coventry, R.I.) and juniors Kristen Bortolotti (Foxborough, Mass.) and Kylie Ratelle (Chicopee, Mass.) lead the team with three shots total.
  • Junior goalkeeper Meghan Dalton (West Hartford, Conn.) has averaged 7.33 saves per game in the first three games of the season.

A bit about the Crusaders

  • The Crusaders enter Thursday with a 0-2-1 record, finishing their last match in a draw with Sacred Heart after two overtime periods.
  • Goalkeeper Sophia Lettieri posted her first shutout of the season with four saves against Sacred Heart.
  • The team has yet to score a goal this season, despite averaging 12.3 shots per game. 
  • Carly Flahive leads the Crusaders with seven shots total.
  • Seniors Kelly Crowley, Carly Flahive and Samantha Peters serve as the team's captains this season.
