SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's soccer team looks to continue their hot offensive streak into a nine-game conference slate beginning with Central Connecticut Friday afternoon in Smithfield.

The Series

The Blue Devils have won seven of the 10 total meetings between the two schools, including last year's 2-1 victory over Bryant in New Britain. In the 2018 matchup, senior Jaden McCarthy (Smithfield, R.I.) tried to start a late rally when she scored for the Bulldogs in the 57th minute, but the team was not able to put up anymore points through the remainder of the half.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs are coming off their third consecutive game scoring more than one goal, scoring two in Sunday's 2-1 win over Vermont. Junior Amanda Spitaleri (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) gave Bryant the early lead when she scored off a cross from senior Caitlyn Linden (Newton, Conn.) in the 7th minute.
  • The Black and Gold's second goal came in the 66th minute from sophomore Lexi Kramer (Forest Hill, Md.) off a pass from McCarthy.
  • Bryant also held the Catamounts scoreless until the 86th minute.
  • Sophomore Corinne Rey (Newton, Mass) was named an NEC Prime Performer on Tuesday for her performance in last Thursday's game against Fairfield.
  • The Bulldogs rank in the top three in the NEC in eight different categories, including three first place rankings in points (31), assists (11) and assists per game (1.57).
  • Kraemer ties for first in the NEC in game-winning goals with two, while Spitaleri and Remi Manna (Pleasantville, N.Y.) sit at third and fourth in three different offensive categories (points, points per game, goals/assists).
  • In net, junior Meghan Dalton (West Hartford, Conn.) has played all 651 minutes for Bryant, recording a 1.24 goals-against average and a .809 save percentage on the season.

A bit about the Blue Devils

  • The Blue Devils enter the matchup at 2-2-3 on the season, finishing their last two games in draws.
  • The teams have had two mutual opponents, with CCSU defeating both Iona and Maine, while the Bulldogs beat Iona but lost to Maine.
  • Six different players have registered a goal this season for the Blue Devils, led by Roma McLaughlin who has four goals on her 2019 resume and also leads the NEC.
  • Giavanna Inzerillo is the only other CCSU player to record more than one goal, tallying two on the year.
  • In net, Amanda McQuillan has played six of the Blue Devils' seven matches, totaling 29 saves and a .806 save percentage with a 1.04 goals-against average.
