Christina Maciel, formerly Richard, enters her second season as the assistant women's soccer coach at Bryant.
Macielis returning to her alma mater after spending two years as
the head women's soccer coach at Dean College. Previously the
assistant coach, Richard took over the head position in December of
2004. Under her tutelage, the program saw 12 players receive
all-region honors and two players be named Dean College Female
Athlete of the Year.
Maciel has established a name for herself in both the club and
Olympic Development Programs in Rhode Island. This fall, she
will enter her seventh season with the Rhode Island ODP
program, where, for the past six years she has worked with several
age groups and trained goalkeepers. Formerly a coach with the
Rhode Island Rays, Richard guided the U-16 Sting, also
training the club's goalkeepers.
At Bryant, Maciel was the recipient of the Northeast-10 Conference
Rookie of the Week and NE-10 Player of the Week awards in her
freshman and junior years. In her tenure as a player at
Bryant, her team appeared in two conference tournaments and
was the first squad in program history to qualify for the NCAA
Tournament, accomplished in 2001.
