Lord, Edwards Lead Women at WPI

Worcester, MA- The Bryant swimming and diving team captured overall victory at the WPI Gompei Invitational over the weekend. They scored a total of 7779 points, finishing ahead of WPI in second and Rowan University in third. Freshmen Reagan Lord and Paige Edwards led the way on the women's side, combining for six individual wins and contributing to three relay victories.

 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Lord set a new Bryant program record in the 100 back, swimming a 53.96 on the way to victory. She also had wins in the 50 and 200 back, 200 IM, and the women's and mixed 200 medley relays.

  • The trio of Lord, Julia Stenhard, and Jillian Stevens swept the top three places in all three backstroke events (50,100, 200).

  • Paige Edwards picked up individual wins in the 500 free, 200 free, and 1650 free events and the 800 free relay.

  • Edwards, Erin Doruska, Charlee LeGallais, and Kelly Tiernan swept the top four spots in the 500 free, while the 1650 free was a sweep of the podium places with Edwards, Natalia Kuipers, and Tiernan.

  • Alyvia Beaudion won both the 50 and 100 IM, setting a WPI pool record in the 100 at 58.67. She was also part of the winning 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free, and 400 free relay teams.

  • Sara Gendron won the 50 and 200 butterfly, and came second to Julia Stenhard in the 100 fly.

  • Erin Doruska won the 100 free with a time of 52.16. She was also on the winning 800 free relay team with Edwards, Beaudion, and LeGallais.

  • The Bulldogs totaled 17 event wins on the women's side, as well as a mixed relay win.
