Hickey, Boru battle in first ITA experience

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's tennis freshmen Sarah Hickey (Toronto, Ont.) and Yasemin Boru (Boca Raton, Fla.) both battled but eventually fell in their ITA debuts.

Coach Cilli's Comments

"In doubles, Sarah and Ada were very aggressive at the net and pushed Columbia to their breaking point. They had a few unlucky breaks that got them down and they just need a little bit more to pull out the win. It was a great learning experience for them and will make them better for their next match."

How it Happened

• Hickey lost in the qualifying round to Katherine Muzik from Rutgers, 6-2, 6-3.
• Boru lost in the first round of the main draw to Caroline Vincent from Army, 7-6 (8), 6-3.
• In doubles, Hickey and Boru were defeated by the seeded duo of Wan and Kevakian from Columbia, 8-5.
