Bryant rallies to down LIU on Saturday night

GREENVILLE, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team rallied from 3-0 down to earn a 4-3 victory over Northeast Conference rival Long Island on Saturday night at Rally Point.

With the win, the Bulldogs snap a four-game losing skid to the Sharks. LIU has won the last three NEC titles.

How It Happened

  • The Sharks grabbed the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Leanne Kendall (Lakeville, Mass.) and Manuela Gomez Estrada (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won 6-1 at No. 3.
  • LIU then pushed its lead to 3-0 with straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 2.
  • Kendall started the comeback for the Bulldogs as she won in straight sets at No. 5.
  • Megan Tan (Calgary, Alberta) followed suit at No. 4 and Aleksi Gottlieb (Plantation, Fla.) tied the match with a gutsy three-set victory at No. 6.
  • Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) completed the comeback with a 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3.
