Bryant downs UConn, 4-3

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over UConn on Wednesday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Complex.

Bryant's victory is its first-ever against UConn.

Coach Cilli:
Very happy for the girls today. We squeaked out a hard-fought match today vs UConn. We won two of the three-set matches and clinched match point at five singles where Liv won in a tiebreak. A lot of great tennis by both teams. Especially happy for the team in light of the two tough losses last weekend.

How it Happened

  • Bryant claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
  • The Bulldogs then had to rally to hold off UConn.

  • Manuela Gomez Estrada evened the match with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 victory at No. 6 before UConn grabbed a 3-2 lead.
  • Leanne Kendall tied things again with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2 before Olivia Rondini won 7-5, 7-6 at No. 5. Rondini won the tiebreak 10-8.
