SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University volleyball team is set to take on Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, March 17 for a Northeast Conference doubleheader at 3 and 6 p.m. in Hackensack.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS

  • Fairleigh Dickinson posts a 3-3 overall record and is 2-2 against NEC opponents. The Knights opened the 2021 season with a tight 3-2 win over Georgian Court before falling to Seton Hall, 3-0, to close out the non-conference slate. In NEC play, FDU took one set against Long Island but ultimately fell in both matches. The Knights bounced back with a sweep over Merrimack.
  • Senior Victoria Demmene leads the Knights offense with 77 kills across six matches, averaging 3.50 kills per set. Most recently, Demmene posted a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs against Merrimack.
  • Senior McKenna Setterlund leads the conference in assists with 166 and 9.76 per set. Setterlund enters Wednesday's doubleheader after posting three-straight double-doubles in the assist and digs category. Against Merrimack, she posted a season-high 45 assists in the four-set match to go along with 13 digs.
  • Senior Allison Koester is third in the NEC averaging 4.64 digs per set.
  • The Bulldogs swept FDU last season with a pair of 3-0 matches. Bryant leads the all-time series record 17-7 and 7-3 in Hackensack.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs enter Wednesday's DH after falling to Sacred Heart. Bryant is 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference slate.
  • Sophomore Alysa Wright leads Bryant's block efforts and is a key part of helping the Bulldogs lead the conference in blocks per set with 2.37. Wright is also the conference leader in that category with 1.39 and ranks 19th nationally.
  • Sophomore Emma McGovern has shown consistent kill efforts for the majority of the 2021 season. She leads the team with 43 kills and is second in the NEC with 3.67 per set. She also ranks third in the conference averaging 4.17 points per set.
  • In the second match at Sacred Heart, Mia Cergol posted her first double-double of the season with 27 assists and 11 digs. The sophomore currently ranks third in the NEC with 8.87 assists per set and fourth with 0.40 aces per set.
  • As a team, Bryant ranks 35th nationally with 1.79 aces per set.
