Knight attends NCAA Career in Sports Forum

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University senior volleyball player Jenna Knight recently took part in the 2021 NCAA Career in Sports Forum.

The NCAA Career in Sports Forum allows student-athletes to receive guidance and network with athletic administrators and sports industry experts from around the country.

"The ideas and discussions that took place during these three days are lessons I plan to apply to being a captain this season," Knight said. "I felt my leadership skillset expanded as a result and I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to attend the forum."

The virtual forum took place from May 26-28 and prepares junior and senior student-athletes for careers in sports by helping them learn more about themselves as leaders and aiding them in creating professional development plans. Forum session topics included understanding inner strengths, developing a career plan, approaching the job search process, and navigating the athletics industry as a young professional.

Knight participated in workshops as well as listening to host of speakers that included Jonathan Orr (Executive Director at Athlete Transition Services) and Yolett McPhee-McCuin (Head women's basketball coach at Ole Miss).

"Coach Yolett was my favorite speaker," Knight said. "Even virtually, her energy was contagious. She talked about finding your "why" and establishing and focusing on your mission. She encouraged personal development, while stressing the importance of a healthy team culture. Following the discussion, I felt inspired to use these lessons as a foundation to build our team culture around."

Knight has appeared in 54 matches over the course of her career and has produced 59 total blocks.
