Volleyball Sweeps Merrimack, Wins 5th Straight

NORTH ANDOVER, MA- The Bryant women's volleyball team continued their winning ways with a 3-0 sweep of Merrimack. They are now 7-1 in the NEC.

How it Happened

Set 1: Bryant dominated from the outset of the first set, scoring seven of the first ten points. They continued to pull away, and their 17-point margin of victory was one of their highest this season. The Bulldogs had 14 kills in the set, including four from Riley James.

Set 2: The Bulldogs once again took the lead to start the set, and used a 6-0 run to pull away from the Warriors. They would go on to win the set by 15. Emma McGovern had five of Bryant's 18 kills in the set.

Set 3: The final set was the closest of the match, with Merrimack leading early on. The Bulldogs did not take the lead until the score was 10-9, but used multiple runs to build their seven point gap. Bryant had four service aces in the final set, with Emma McGovern, Carolina Camacho, Mia Cergol, and Alysa Wright each getting one.

 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant's 11 service aces tie their season high, previously achieved in August against Holy Cross. Emma McGovern led the Bulldogs with three aces.

  • McGovern also led the Bulldogs with 11 kills in the match. She finished with a double-double as well, notching a team high 14 digs.

  • Riley James led the Bulldogs with a .562 hitting percentage. She had nine kills without committing an error.

  • Mia Cergol also picked up a double-double, with 33 assists and 10 digs.
