Coach Garlacy's Comments

"What a great team effort today. Our middles created lots of seam for our outsides to take advantage of. Riley and Emma were very efficient, and Abby Rae was a shovel on defense, again keeping them out of system. Mia ran the offense like a well oiled machine and picked up some blocks at crucial moments. This team continues to improve each time out."

How it Happened:

Set 1: Saint Francis scored first to open the match, and held the Set 1 lead for the first 13 points before Bryant tied it at seven. The Bulldogs immediately took the lead, and fought off multiple runs by the Red Flash to win in extended play. Riley James and Emma McGovern had four kills each to lead Bryant in the set.

Set 2: The Bulldogs struck first in the second, but SFU came back to take a three point lead. Bryant was able to stay close throughout the set and eventually took the lead back, scoring five of the final six points to win the set. Caroline Kennedy led Bryant with six kills and a block in the set.

Set 3: Bryant never trailed in the final set. They scored the first two points, and only let SFU tie the score three times en route to a four point set win. The Bulldogs registered four team blocks in the set, with Mia Cergol leading the way with three block assists.

Bulldog Notes and Notables:

  • Riley James led the Bulldogs with 13 kills and a .385 hitting percentage,  committing just three attack errors in 26 chances. She also finished the match with four assists, two blocks, and an ace.

  • Haley O'Brien posted her second straight five block match, again finishing with four assists and a solo. She now has fifteen total blocks in her last four matches.

  • Bryant had six different players record at least one kill and one block, and five players who had at least two of each.
