Lodge leads Bryant Cross Country at Ted Owen Invitational

FULL RESULTS

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. --  Bryant senior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Massachusetts) finished third overall, the highest finish of her career, as the Bryant University cross country team competed at the Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday in New Britain, Connecticut.

The Bulldog women placed fourth among the 11 schools invited, while the men's team ran to a seventh-place finish among the nine schools running.

The men were again led by Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, Rhode Island), who finished 25th overall with a time of 28:21.6 in the 8K course.

COACH CARROLL'S THOUGHTS

"I am pleased with how both teams performed today," Bryant cross country head coach Noah Carroll said. "We sat one of our top-five runners and still were able to compete well. I think our top three guys picked up 10 places each in the last mile.

"The women ran well. Melissa [Lodge] has started to bounce back from an early-season injury really well," Carroll continued. "Another week and I think she will be able to tackle pretty much anything. It was a hot day and there was some illness going around the women's team, but they were still able to finish a close fourth overall which shows just how tough this group is."
