Switzer announces 2019 slate

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University cross country team has released the 2019 fall schedule, as announced Wednesday by head coach Mitch Switzer.

"I'm looking forward to the schedule we have lined up for the team this year," said Switzer. "It's always a boost each season to open with the Nassaney Invitational here at home and it gives us a chance to evaluate where people are at coming off the summer before we really get into the tough part of the season.  The schedule should give the team the opportunity to experience a wide range of competition while preparing them for the NEC championships at CCSU."

The seven-meet schedule is highlighted by the 19th Annual Nassaney Invitational that kicks off the season on Sept. 7 in Smithfield. The annual meet is in memory of Bryant cross country alum Shawn M. Nassaney '98 who passed away during the 9/11 attacks. To read more about Nassaney's story and legacy at Bryant, click HERE.

Following the Nassaney, the Bulldogs hit the road for the remainder of the season making their first stop at Central Connecticut for the Ted Owens Invitational. Apart from 2015, Bryant has competed in the Ted Owens Invitational every season since 2013. Last season, the men posted their best team finish by compiling 67 points for a third-place mark. The women's highest team finish came in 2013 when the Bulldogs finished second with 57 points.

Bryant begins the month of October in Boston at the NEICAAA Championship meet on Oct. 12 before heading up north to the Green Mountain State for the Vermont Fall Foliage on Oct. 19.

The Bulldogs return to Central Connecticut for back-to-back meets. On Oct. 25, Bryant is set to compete in the CCSU Mini Meet where the men will be competing in a 5K while the women will run in a 3K race. The mini-meet will prep Bryant before heading back to Stanley Quarter Park on Nov. 2 for the Northeast Conference Championship hosted by CCSU. Last season at the NEC Championship, the men placed two on the All-NEC team including junior Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.)

Nov. 15 closes out the 2019 season as Bryant takes the trip to the University of Buffalo for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
