Bio

Britt King is in her second year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Inclusive Excellence.

As the Assistant AD for Inclusive Excellence, King's mission is to strengthen and build upon the University's efforts to cultivate policies, practices and structures that ensure an inclusive, equitable and hospitable environment for student-athletes, staff, trainers and coaches. To ensure that there is a coordinated effort in this regard, she will report directly to the Athletic Director, Bill Smith, while working closely with the Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Reviewing best-in-class practices in higher education, corporate, and athletic environments, King will oversee ongoing training and special workshops that enhance the preparation of all members of the Athletic Department to support Inclusive Excellence.  King represents Bryant and its athletic department on the American East Diversity and Inclusion Designee Committee (ADID).

"We are so excited to fill this position with someone as talented Britt King," Smith said. "Britt has done an incredible job as an assistant coach with our women's basketball program, but it's been her ability to relate to our staff and our student-athletes that has really impressed me. She has done an unbelievable job with our women's basketball student-athletes, and we are excited for her to have the same impact with our entire department."

King spent eight years on the Bryant sidelines as the Associate Head Coach for the women's basketball program. She's helped the Black and Gold reach the championship game twice and helped develop 10 Bulldogs to all-conference laurel.  The Bulldogs had a forward on the All-NEC First or Second Team in each of King's eight years on the sideline including Breanna Rucker who was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year.

Prior to arriving in Smithfield, she served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of the District of Columbia, Coppin State, Lock Haven and was the first black head coach in Fresno State history.

"I am very excited about my new role within Bryant University's Athletic Department," King said. "It's a fantastic opportunity to continue to serve student-athletes on a much larger scale. I look forward to enhancing our student athlete's total college experience."

King spent four years as a star of the Providence College Friars from 1982-86. She was inducted into the Providence Hall of Fame in 2008. King left the Friars as the program's all time leading rebounder with 1,205 boards and still currently holds the record.  Following her sterling collegiate career, King played professionally for El Masnou Club in Barcelona, Spain and led the country in rebounding.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Providence College and received her Master of Business Administration in Finance from American University in Washington, DC in 1989.
