Bryant Athletics unveils new Chace Athletic Center court

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — With official practices for both men's and women's basketball underway, the Bryant University Department of Athletics is proud to announce the completion of its newly renovated court inside the Elizabeth and Malcolm Chace Athletic Center. The fresh surface will provide an updated and improved home for the Bulldog volleyball and men's and women's basketball programs beginning in 2013-14.

"We are excited to have our new court unveiled and ready for our student-athletes to compete on this fall and into our winter basketball seasons," said Director of Athletics Bill Smith. "This state-of-the-art new floor is another step to our success at the Division I level and adds to the excitement surrounding our programs at Bryant University."

The new court, made possible through the generosity of Michael ('67) and Karen Fisher, is an Action Nitro floor featuring over 6800 square feet of first-grade maple. The floor keeps many features of its predecessor, including the Bryant Athletics logo at midcourt and the Bulldogs moniker logos displayed on each baseline.

Added to the design are the official Bryant Athletics Twitter handle, @BryantAthletics, boldly displayed in front of the visitors bench as well as the official athletics website, bryantbulldogs.com, put in full view on the court in front of the home team.

Construction on the new playing surface began July 22 and was completed September 10. The Bulldog volleyball team played the first official contest on the floor Tuesday, Sept. 17 in a match against the University of Hartford.
