Bulldogs Ohio bound for Spring Break trip

TOURNAMENT CENTRAL 

LEADING OFF
The Bulldogs begin their eight-game spring break trip this weekend with four games at the Dayton/Wright State Classic in Dayton, Ohio. Bryant opens against the Raiders on Friday, faces host Dayton in a doubleheader on Saturday and closes out competition on Sunday with a single game against Bradley.

THE SERIES
Bryant has played just one of the three teams it will play this weekend, Wright State. The Bulldogs defeated the Raiders, 2-0, last season in the season-opening tournament in Cary, N.C. Bryant will be facing Dayton and Bradley for the first time in school history.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Wright State is off to a 3-6 start to the season but they its has played a very tough schedule to start. The Raiders played a three-game series at Clemson before traveling to 12th-ranked UCLA this past weekend for a three-game series. They had started the year with three-straight victories, including a 5-1 win over Dayton. Mark Fowler currently leads the team with a .452 average and six stolen bases, while Sam Picchiotti is hitting .389 with a team-high eight RBI. As a team, the Raiders are hitting .256. On the mound, Taylor Braun has been the most productive starter, posting a 3.78 ERA over 16.2 innings. Casey Henn has posted a 1-2 record and a team-leading 12 strikeouts. The Raiders have a 4.80 team ERA and teams are hitting .244 against them.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers, the defending A-10 champs, are off to a 3-5-1 start on the year and are coming off a 1-2 weekend in Spartanburg, S.C., defeating Wofford, 5-4. Ian Hundley is hitting .324 with 10 stolen bases and five runs scored. Jared Broughton has posted a team-high six RBI for the Flyers who are hitting .221 as a team. On the mound, Denton Sagerman is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA in four relief appearances and Noah Buettgen has walked just two in 19.1 innings. Dayton's team ERA currently sits at 4.66.

SCOUTING THE BRAVES
Bradley is off to a 3-8 start to the season after going 1-3 at the Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., this past weekend. The Braves lone win came against Hawai'i, 6-5. They've also split a four-game series with Lipscomb and Ball State. Greg Partyka currently leads the offense with a .450 average, five doubles, a home run and 13 RBI. Brady Willkin has two of the Braves' six home runs on the year. The Braves have struggled on the mound as they sport a 8.61 team ERA entering the weekend. Brent Stong is 2-1 in three relief appearances on the season.
 
TOUGH START
Winless through their first seven games (0-6-1), the Bulldogs are off to their worst start since the 2010 team lost its first six games. Bryant has been in almost every game this year, however, dropping three one-run games and two others by five runs or less. In fact, Bryant has held opponents to five runs or less in all but two games this season.

BROWN JOINS 200-HIT CLUB
With a one-out single to right field on Friday against Oregon State, senior Kevin Brown became the newest member of the 200-hit club at Bryant. He is the 15th player in school history to accomplish the feat and just the second (Jamie Skagerlind) to do it at the Division I level. He followed with four more hits on Friday and is now tied with Skagerlind for the most hits at the DI level with 204.
