SERIES HISTORY

This weekend's three-game series will be the first of five meetings between Bryant and Brown this season. The Bulldogs and Bears will also play a home-and-home at the end of March. Bryant leads the series against Brown 7-4, having won each of the last five meetings.

NOTES AND NOTABLES FOR BROWN

It has been a hectic week for the Bryant baseball team. Scheduled to play Tuesday and Wednesday in Richmond and Washington, D.C., the Bulldogs instead made the trek back north as Winter Storm Stella prevented either of the games from being played. Then, this weekend's originally scheduled series at FDU was postponed due to the aftermath of Stella. Instead, Bryant and Brown, who had three games at Seton Hall cancelled, came together to schedule a series on Thursday.

Senior Jacob Marotta (Bridgewater, Mass.) has been one of Bryant's most consistent hitters this season. The Bulldogs' everyday third baseman, Marotta is 11-for-38 with three doubles. The three doubles are already a career-high for Marotta. Last weekend, he collected a hit in all three games at Maryland, going 4-for-12 in the series.

Junior Mickey Gasper (Merrimack, N.H.) has been Bryant's top hitter all year and brings a .354 average and a .466 OBP into this weekend's series. He has reached base safely in 13-straight games, tying his career long.

Redshirt-freshman Mason Palmieri (Lincoln, R.I.) has registered three-straight scoreless outings out of the bullpen for the Bulldogs. He has a 5.79 ERA and has allowed five hits and posted six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

SCOUTING THE BEARS

Brown enters the weekend at 0-6, having opened its season on March 3. The Bears have been in every game, however, having lost all six by four runs or less. Three of Brown's defeats came last weekend at No. 12 Texas A&M. Sam Grigo leads the team with a .333 average (8-24), while freshman Garrett Delano has two doubles and a home run and is the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week.

On the mound, Christian Taugner was a Second Team All-Ivy pick last season after going 5-3 with a 2.79 ERA. He walked just seven batters in 58 innings last season and is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 12 innings this season. Reid Anderson has struck out 13 batters in 12 1/3 innings and has a 4.38 ERA.
