Baseball visits Hartford Wednesday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University baseball team opens the Northern part of its schedule with a trip to the University of Hartford on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Pitching Probables
Wednesday – Tyler Schoff (1-0, 9.64) vs. Tyler Coppo (0-0, 0.00)

Sophomore Tyler Schoff (Lee Center, N.Y.) will make his second-career start on Wednesday at Hartford. Last week at Winthrop, Schoff allowed just one hit but gave up three runs (two earned). He walked three and struck out one in three-plus innings.  

Series History

  • Bryant and Hartford will be meeting for the 10th time in program history.  
  • The Bulldogs own a 6-3 lead in the all-time series after snapping a three-game losing skid last year.   
  • Bryant and Hartford will also play a three-game weekend series at Conaty Park April 12-14.

  • Bryant enters Wednesday at 9-8 overall after posting a 5-3 record over spring break.
  • The Bulldogs enter the week with a .263 average and 5.9 runs per game. The team ERA is 4.88.
  • Sophomore Shane Kelly (Sewell, N.J.) enjoyed a strong spring break trip (.345, 3HR, 7RBI) and is hitting a team-best .341 on the year.
  • Redshirt sophomore Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) has hit safely in six-straight games and brings a .333 average, three doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI into Wednesday's contest.
  • Junior Chris Wright (Cumberland, R.I.) leads the Black and Gold with five doubles, three home runs and 16 RBI.    

Scouting the Hawks

  • Hartford is 2-10 on the year after taking two-of-three against Albany in an America East series over the weekend.
  • The Hawks are hitting .232 as a team and don't feature a single freshmen in their starting lineup.
  • Chris Sullivan leads the team with 10 RBI, while Ashton Bardzell has two doubles, two triples, two home runs and eight runs scored.
