Baseball opens season at High Point

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University baseball team opens its 2021 season this weekend with a three-game series at High Point. Opening Day is set for Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

Bryant and High Point will play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Bryant vs. High Point

  • Bryant and High Point will be meeting for the first time in program history.    

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 4-11 record. Bryant beat Western Carolina on back-to-back games to close out the year. 
  • Bryant returns fifth-years James Ciliento, Jack Ipsen and Vito Morgese. The Black and Gold also welcome in graduate students Liam McGill, Kevin Gould and JP Knight
  • Ciliento has a career average of .305 with 188 hits, 39 doubles, 16 home runs, 119 RBI and 142 runs scored. 
  • Ipsen has appeared in 57 games for the Bulldogs, posting a 2-3 record and two saves. He's tossed 65.2 innings.
  • Morgese returns for a fifth year after missing 2020 with Tommy John Surgery. He's 11-11 with a 4.34 ERA in 170.0 innings.
  • Bryant also welcomes back starters Derek Smith, Shane Kelly, Jake Gustin, Tommy DiTullio, Alex Lane and Matt Woods
  • The Black and Gold ranked in the top 10 nationally in both stolen bases and stolen bases per game last season.
