Baseball sweeps weekly honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Bryant University baseball team swept the Northeast Conference weekly awards, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Liam McGill was named player of the week, Kevin Gould earned co-pitcher of the week and Liam LeVangie was named rookie of the week.

McGill is off to a hot start this spring, hitting .591 (13-for-22) with a double, two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored in the first six games. He's posted a .630 OBP. McGill has posted four-straight three-hit games, including a 9-for-13 showing last weekend at the CCU Baseball Tournament. In the final game against No. 23 West Virginia, McGill homered twice and drove in three.

Gould has been outstanding in his first two outngs as a Bulldog, tossing 8.1 scoreless innings of relief. He registered 5.1 scoreless innings in his Bryant debut at High Point, earning the win. Gould walked one and struck out five. He followed that with 3.0 scoreless innings vs. Kennesaw St. last weekend. Gould has walked two, struck out nine and allowed just four hits.

LeVangie has also been dominant out of the bullpen, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings in two outings. He's walked two, struck out three and allowed just two hits. LeVangie tossed 3.0 scoreless on Opening Day in his collegiate debut before recording 2.0 scoreless innings last weekend against Coastal Carolina.

In addition, Jake Gustin was named an NEC Prime Performer. Gustin hit .375 (9-for-24) with two doubles, a home run and five RBI in six games.
