Bryant Baseball Summer Recap

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – It was another successful summer for members of the Bryant University baseball team.

Below is a recap of the #SummerDawgs.

Sunbelt League

Austin Wainer – Waleska Wild Things
Wainer made eight appearances and five starts for Waleksa this summer. He finished seventh in the league with a 2.25 ERA, striking out 34 and walking just 10 in 32.0 innings. Wainer went 2-1 on the year and surrendered just 26 hits. His best start of the year came on June 16 when he struck out 10 and allowed just one hit over 7.0 shutout innings.

New England Collegiate League

Mike Randazzo – Danbury Westerners
Randazzo made two appearances for Danbury this summer, tossing 1.1 innings. He walked two and struck out two.

Christian Allegretti – Danbury Westerners
Allegretti made seven appearances and five starts for the NECBL champions. He finished the year with a 1-1 record and a 4.62 ERA in 25.1 innings. Allegretti struck out 24 and issued just 12 walks. His last start was his best start as he struck out nine over 5.0 innings against Martha's Vineyard.

Coleman Picard – Danbury Westerners
Picard made 16 relief appearances for the NECBL champions, going 2-0 with six saves. He finished his summer with a 5.74 ERA, 25 strikeouts and just seven walks in 15.2 innings. Picard was his best during Danbury's run to the NECBL title, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 over 5.0 scoreless innings.

Jake Gustin – North Shore Navigators
Gustin played in 33 games for North Shore this summer, hitting .258 with four doubles and three home runs. He drove in 17 and also scored 13 runs. Gustin had eight multi-hit games, including a four-hit night vs. Vermont on July 22.

Derek Smith – Sanford Mainers
Smith enjoyed a solid summer in his home state of Maine, hitting .286 with five extra-base hits. Hitting just .216 on July 16, Smith finished the summer by hitting safely in 11 of his last 12 games. On July 25, he went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three runs scored.

Liam LeVangie – Newport Gulls
LeVangie was one of the top relievers for the Gulls this summer, posting a 4.40 ERA in 12 relief appearances. He finished 2-0 and posted a 37-to-7 K:BB ratio in 28.2 innings. LeVangie had his best outing of the summer on July 30, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings of relief against Ocean State.

Matt Woods – Martha's Vineyard Sharks
Woods helped Martha's Vineyard claim the division title this summer, hitting .252 in 32 games. He finished with seven doubles, three home runs, 22 walks and eight stolen bases. Woods hit safely in eight-straight games to close the season and went 4-for-10 with four runs scored in three playoff games.

Jackson Harrigan – Vermont Mountaineers
Harrigan made three appearances for Vermont this summer. He allowed two runs on two hits, walked three and struck out three in 3.0 innings. Harrigan tossed 1.1 scoreless innings against Upper Valley.

John Tuccillo – Ocean State Waves
Tuccillo had a great summer at the plate and behind the plate for the Waves, earning a spot on the South All-Star team. He hit .314 during the regular season, producing seven doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI. Tuccillo finished the summer with 10 multi-hit games and drove in a season-high four runs on July 16.

Jared Burrows – Mystic Schooners
Burrows was one of Mystic's top relievers this summer, finishing with a 2.84 ERA in 11 appearances. He walked 10 and struck out 26 over 19.0 innings. Burrows struck out 4+ batters in five of his appearances, including a season-high five on June 29. He surrendered just two earned runs over his final six outings.

Cape Cod League

Brett Wichrowski – Orleans Firebirds
Wichrowski joined Orleans in the middle of July and made three appearances and one start for the Firebirds. He walked four and struck out four over 5.0 innings of work.

Ken Turner – Bourne Braves
Turner was one of the top arms for Bourne, a team that advanced to the CCBL Championship. He finished the summer with a 2.82 ERA in nine appearances, three starts. Turner walked five and struck out 19 over 22.1 innings. He turned in a fantastic outing in the playoffs, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings of one-hit relief against Brewster.

Hamptons League

James Myler – South Shore Clippers
Myler played in 27 games for South Shore, hitting .235 with three doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI. He also stole eight bases. Myler finished with hits in six-straight games, including a July 20 game in which he went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.

Florida Collegiate Baseball League

Logan Frasier – Sanford River Rats
Frasier made 10 appearances and two starts for Sanford, finishing with a 2-2 record and a 3.54 ERA. He struck out 12 over 20.1 innings. Frasier had his best outing in his last appearance, allowing just one hit over 4.0 scoreless innings of relief on July 24.

Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League

Mark Scamardella – New York Phenoms
Scamardella enjoyed an All-Star season with the Phenoms, earning the start in the ACBL All-Star Game. He finished the summer with a 3-2 record and a 3.69 ERA in 31.2 innings. Scamardella walked 18 and struck out 28. He struck out a season-high 12 over 6.1 innings in his start on July 5.

Coastal Plains Collegiate League

Collin Lowe – Tri-City Chili Peppers
Lowe made eight starts for Tri-City, going 0-3 with a 4.88 ERA. He walked just 11 and struck out 37 in 38.2 innings. Lowe worked at least four innings in all eight starts and has three starts of at least 5.0 innings and just one run allowed.

Futures Collegiate League

Lewis Barnum – Worcester Bravehearts
Barnum started his summer in Newport and finished it in Worcester with the Bravehearts. He had three home runs and nine RBI in 14 regular-season games and then went 3-for-7 in two playoff games.

M.T. Morrissey – Vermont Lake Monsters
Morrissey made 11 appearances and three starts for the league champion Lake Monsters. He was 0-1 with a 4.95 ERA in 20.0 innings. Morrissey struck out 24. He struck out a season-high six on Aug. 4 and also made one playoff start for Vermont.

Cole Wojtkowski – Pittsfield Suns
An incoming freshman, Wojtkowski played in 31 games for Pittsfield. He went 10-for-61 with three doubles, nine RBI and five stolen bases. Wojtkowski went 2-for-5 in five postseason games.

New York Collegiate League

Carmine Petosa – Mansfield Destroyers
Petosa hit .308 with four doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI in 19 games with Mansfield. He also walked 12 times, finishing with a .486 OBP. Petosa had six multi-hit games on the summer.

Perfect Game Collegiate League

Jackson Phinney – Amsterdam Mohawks
Phinney hit .255 with three doubles, two triples and one home run in 25 games with Amsterdam. He also walked 15 times. Phinney finished the summer with a .431 OBP.

Cal Ripken Collegiate League

Kevin Sylvestri – Alexandria Aces
Sylvestri dominated out of the bullpen this summer, going 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in nine appearances. He walked five and struck out 19. Sylvestri allowed runs in just two of his nine appearances and worked multiple innings in all but two.
