Gustin powers Bryant past Sacred Heart, 13-5
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Jake Gustin had three hits and drove in four runs as the Bryant University baseball team defeated Sacred Heart, 13-5, on Saturday afternoon at Conaty Park.
With the win, the Bulldogs have now won three-straight games and clinched the weekend series with the Pioneers. Bryant is 17-19 overall and 7-7 in NEC play.
Gustin finished 3-for-5 with a double, triple, four RBI and two runs scored to lead a 14-hit attack. Matt Woods (2-3, 2RBI, 2R), Logan Allen (2-3, RBI, R), Matt Smith (2-4, 2R), Alex Lane (2-5, 2RBI, 2R) and Tommy DiTullio (2-5, RBI, R) all had multiple hits.
Brett Wichrowski earned his first collegiate victory with 5.0 innings of three-run ball. He allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five. Christian Allegretti struck out four over 3.0 innings of one-run relief.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs plated a run in the first on a two-out, two-strike single from Lane. It scored Woods who was hit by a pitch to start the game.
- In the second, RBI singles from Woods and Gustin were followed by a wild pitch that plated a run. Lane brought home a run with a fielder's choice and Allen followed with an RBI triple. Bryant closed the scoring as Allen scored on the backend of a stolen base.
- Sacred Heart answered with three runs in the third. Justin Jordan plated two with a double and Sam Mongelli scored a third with a ground out.
- Gustin would pick up an RBI with a double in the third, while DiTullio's fielder's choice made it 9-3 in the fourth.
- Bryant would put the game away with four runs in the seventh. Woods picked up a sac fly, Gustin tripled home a pair and Tuccillo closed Bryant's scoring with a sac fly.
