HEADWIND WINS AT QUINSIGAMOND

HEADWIND WINS AT QUINSIGAMOND

WORCESTER, M.A. -- On Saturday, October 12th, the team had their second race of the season in Worcester, MA on the Quinsigamond River. The temperature was a bit on the colder side compared to the first race, and there was a very strong headwind from the very start. This yielded slower times and conditions that the girls were not used to rowing in.

Final Results

1v4+

  • 9th place: 21:03.7

2v4+

  • 12th place: 21:26

Race Info

  • The strong headwind made it difficult for many teams, with a noticeable difference between times from the previous weekend’s race compared to this race

  • There was a total of 21 other collegiate teams competing, however four teams scratched so there was 17 total, with UNH, Vermont and Trinity coming in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

  • There isn’t a huge difference in time between the 1V4+ and the 2V4+ compared to other team’s 1, 2, and 3 boats, which can have a minute or more of a difference in time

Highlights

  • Though their time was slower for this race by almost a minute, the 1V4+ has been practicing extra this week in preparation for the Head of the Charles Regatta taking place this weekend on 10/19

  • The 2V4+ will not be racing in the Head of the Charles, however, the entire team will go and support and enjoy the world’s largest two-day regatta!
