ROWING PARTICIPATES IN FIRST WORMTOWN CHASE REGATTA

SHREWSBURY, M.A. -- The first-ever Wormtown Chase Regatta took place on Saturday 10/26 in Shrewsbury, MA, on the Quinsigamond. Unlike the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, this race took place on the opposite side of the river which has a more open area with a park. This provides plenty of room for teams and viewers.

Final Results

  • 2V4+: 13th out of 14 with a time of 27:47

  • V8+: 18th out of 21 with a time of 22:47

Race Info

  • There was a heavy headwind at the beginning of the race (around 9AM)

  • This put boats that went out early, including Bryant’s 2V4+, at a disadvantage time wise

  • There were about 4 hours between races, as the 8+ boats typically go out later in the day

  • The wind had died down by the afternoon (about 2PM) for the V8+ boat to go out

Highlights

  • Clara Cole ‘23 participated in her first race ever and she did well!

  • The Wormtown Chase Regatta was successful for it’s first run, with about 16 events and over 20 teams

  • Many parents came out to support, as this was the Women’s Rowing last race of the season

Comments

  • “I was excited to see that Clara was excited to race in her very first regatta of her rowing career! She and the whole team did well for the last race of the season, though the headwind was tough, we made it through, and we’re excited to start winter training because it mixes up our workouts” -- President Lydia Paglierani

Up Next

  • The team will be transitioning into winter training starting in November, with lift twice a week for the rest of the year
