Rosie Downey returns Fall of 2020 for her ninth year of coaching our nationally ranked Women's Rugby team. Coach Downey is a Bryant graduate herself where she played rugby at Bryant all 4 years as well as going on to play for Providence Women’s Rugby for 2 years after college. When she was at Bryant, she was one of the best players the team had ever seen. Her junior season the team went to National Championship Playoffs, and the Bulldogs capture the championship and Downey was named MVP for the entire tournament.

Now, she is taking her rugby knowledge and skill to teach the current team how to play at a higher level. Which has been seen on the field, as she has built this team from a D3 team to a D2 powerhouse who holds three D2 conference titles, and national rankings in 15's play and 7's play, with the most title "USA Rugby D2 National 7's Collegiate Champion." Her passion is seen through her players who love this sport and would do anything else for their teammates, which is the foundation of rugby worldwide.  

Coaching the Women's Rugby team is a part time job for Downey, as she currently works full time, putting her Bryant degree to good use as a Marketing Research Analyst, and lives close by campus with her husband, Ben and son Noah in Burrillville, RI
