BULLDOGS ADVANCE TO SECOND ROUND OF PLAYOFFS

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University Women’s Rugby team competed in their first playoff game for the Fall 2019 15s season against the University of Deleware. The Bulldogs hosted the Blue Hens for a morning match on Saturday, November 16th on their Sutton field.

  • Erica Johansson completed three conversion kicks 

Highlights

  • The Bulldogs dominated with offensive gameplay throughout the eighty-minute match, leaving the Blue Hens trapped to defend their half of the field 

  • Just one minute into the match, an opponent suffered a broken collarbone at the hands of the Bulldogs 

  • Within the first ten minutes of the match, four of Bryant’s Bulldogs had scored tries against the opponent 

  • Bryant was forced to play down a player two separate times for a total of twenty minutes as a result of their penalties 

  • Many of the Bulldogs’ scoring occurred directly after a kick-off 

  • Junior Jennifer Rosinski made an incredible interception in the opponents 22-meter line scoring right in the middle of the zone 

  • Junior Erica Johansson received an Honorable Mention from Coach Rosie Downey 

  • Jennifer Rosinski was named Player of the Match for her tremendous performance and effort during the match 

  • Rookie of the Match was awarded to Freshman Ali Weisheit in honor of scoring her first try as a Bulldog
