WOMEN’S RUGBY FINISHES SECOND IN NEW ENGLAND

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Bryant University Women’s Rugby team traveled to Vassar College on Saturday, November 23rd to compete in the USA Rugby Fall Championship -Northeast Regional Championship. The Bulldogs played two games throughout the weekend. 

Match 1 Saturday, November 22rd – versus The State University of New York College (SUNY) – Cortland 

Final Score

  • Bryant University 29 – 17 SUNY Cortland 

Highlights

  • The match was a round of 16s, meaning each team had sixteen players on the field at a time 

Match 2 Sunday, November 23rd – versus Vassar College 

Final Score

  • Vassar College 33 – 7 Bryant University  

Highlights

  • Bryant lost to Vassar in the semifinals 

  • The Bulldogs played a forward-heavy game doing their best to block their attack position 

  • Brenna Rojek was named player of the match for her determination and persistence to be present in every ruck and pick the ball as many times as she could 

  • Jennifer Rosinski, Nyatasha Jackowicz, and Erica Johansson received Honorable Mentions from Coach Rosie Downey   

  • Caroline James was named Rookie of the Match 

  • Overall, the Bryant Women’s team placed second in New England
