BRYANT TENNIS DEFEATS TWO LOCAL OPPONENTS

KINGSTON, R.I, -- This past weekend, the Bryant Club Tennis team headed down to the University of Rhode Island to take on two matches.  The weekend began by facing the University of Rhode Island and the University of Connecticut in their first match of the season. The Bryant Club Tennis team then took a trip over to Brandeis University for their second match to defeat the Brandeis Owls.

 

Final Score:

  • Bryant University: 25

  • Brandeis University: 21

  • Scores not reported for URI meet

 

Game Info:

  • Jennifer Forte ‘19 fought hard with partner Abby Tesconi ‘22, but could not break through resulting in a 6-2 loss

  • Austin Briggs ‘22 dominated in his very first match ever playing for the Bryant club tennis team during men’s singles

  • Emily Ren ‘21 had to work hard around the court during some long points

  • Nick Lecours ‘19 and Caitlin McCosh ‘20 entered the match with overall score of 20-14

  • Lecours and McCosh had to win one game in order for the team to win, and they did

 

Highlights:

  • Newcomer Tesconi showed great potential for future matches

  • Briggs swept the match in a 6-0 win and only gave up one point.

  • Throughout the match, Ren had some nice backhands and forehands that helped her seal the win

  • Lecours and McCosh was able to win one of the games, allowing Bryant to win the meet against Brandeis

 

Up Next:

  • The Bulldogs will be traveling to Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in Battle of the Sections where the top finishers from sectionals will compete
