NEW WIN AGAINST NEW HAVEN

NEW HAVEN, C.T. -- The Bryant Club Tennis team competed against the University of New Haven on Sunday, November 3rd. It was outdoors and very chilly with a very close score with a little over 10 points between Bryant and New Haven, but the dogs came out on top! They have two more matches left in their Fall season. 

Final Score 

  • Bryant: 57 

  • University of New Haven: 44 

Game Info 

  • This match was formatted quite differently from the other matches that they have played this year 

  • Instead of following the general Sectionals format of 1 set per match, we did best 2 out of 3, and we played two mixed matches instead of just 1 

  • Men’s Doubles: Aidan Costello and Matt Minertz (6-4, 6-3) 

  • Women’s Doubles: Emily Yu and Emily Grossman (2-6, 3-6) 

  • Men’s Singles: Nate Comment (6-4, 6-0) 

  • Women’s Singles: Anna Torregrossa (2-6, 2-6) 

  • Mixed Match: Austin Pegram and Lauren Fedor (6-2, 6-4) 

  • Mixed Match: Matt Minertz and Anna Torregrossa (6-2, 6-1)

Highlights 

  • Aidan Costello and Matt Minertz had a tough battle in their first set, but they were able to pull through by winning many deuce points 
  • Nate Comment fought hard in his first set winning 6-4, and did even better in the second set with a 6-0 
  • Anna played well and put up a tough fight in her singles match, fell short, but bounced back in her second match (mixed with matt) at 6-2 and 6-1 
  • Austin and Lauren came in clutch with their win as we were tied with University of New Haven after the doubles and singles matches but we pulled into the lead with their win of  6-2 and 6-4
  • Overall, everyone played well despite the chilly weather and they won 57-44!
